Find An Addiction Psychiatrist
Step 1: Check Insurance Directory
For most, this is going to be your only option. These will usually be covered by insurance and only require you to cover the co-pay/co-insurance for your plan. For most, you'll be spending about $60-100 per visit. Unfortunately this option comes with a smaller selection of addiction psychiatrists and you'll usually be required to wait longer between visits and more often than not you'll be limited to just telehealth options unless you want to wait 6 months for a spot to open up.
Step 2: Find a Cash Only Addiction Psychiatrist
Most established psychiatrists only take cash these days. They tend to charge about $400-500 per hour and appointments are usually 30 minutes long, so you'll be paying about $200-250 per visit. On the plus side, the wait times are usually minimal where they can get you in to see them within a week. And they tend to not rush through the session the way insurance psychiatrists do. And any diagnoses don't reach your insurance or your employer. For this option, you can find an addiction psychiatrist on psychiatry.org, zocdoc.com, Psychology Today or just ask for a referral from your primary care doctor.
